Version v1-2026-10, 3 October 2026

These terms apply when you book a valet or detail with Evolution Detailing. Nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.

1. About us

Evolution Detailing is the trading name of James Hyde, a sole trader.

Your contract with us starts when we confirm your booking, on screen and by email.

2. Your booking details

Please check your details before you book: vehicle size, address and postcode, contact details, date and time. Prices depend on the vehicle size and, for mobile bookings, your postcode.

If any details are wrong (for example a van booked as a small car), we'll explain the difference before we start. You can then choose to pay the correct price, change the service, rebook or cancel.

3. Prices

Prices are shown in pounds and include everything for the service you choose. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.

The price shown before you press the booking button is the price you pay, unless we agree a change with you first (see section 8).

4. Mobile service and travel fees

For mobile bookings, we come to you. Travel up to 5 driving miles from our base is free. Beyond that, a travel fee of up to £20 applies. It's worked out from the real driving distance to your postcode and shown before you book.

5. Deposits and payment

  • Mobile: you pay a deposit of 50% of the total price by card when you book. Stripe processes the payment securely. The rest is due when the work is finished, by cash or bank transfer.
  • Drop-off: there's nothing to pay in advance. You pay on the day, by cash or bank transfer.

We check discount codes when you book. If a code can't be used, we'll tell you before you book. We never silently charge you more.

About the deposit. The deposit secures your appointment.

  • If you cancel within your 14-day cancellation period (section 9), we refund your deposit in full within 14 days. The exception is when you asked us to start within that period and we've already started work: then you pay only for the work done.
  • If we cancel or can't do the job (for example because of the weather), you choose a new date or a full refund.
  • After your cancellation period has ended, section 10 applies.

6. Appointment times

Appointments are morning (09:00–12:00), afternoon (14:00–17:00) or evening (19:00–21:00). Evening appointments are drop-off only. Times are arrival windows, and we'll let you know if we're running late. Bookings must be made at least 12 hours ahead.

7. Mobile appointments: access and location

For mobile appointments, please make sure:

  • the vehicle is at the address you gave, with enough space to work safely around it;
  • we can use an outside water tap and a standard power socket;
  • you've told us about any parking restrictions.

If we can't reach or safely work on the vehicle when we arrive, we'll try to sort it out with you. If we can't, the appointment is treated as missed (see section 10).

Drop-off: please bring the vehicle to 44 Charterhouse Drive, Solihull, B91 3FH at the agreed time, and remove any valuables.

8. Vehicle condition and extra work

Our prices assume a vehicle in normal everyday condition. Some vehicles need much more time or different products. Examples:

  • heavy pet hair, severe staining or very heavy mud;
  • mould, bodily fluids or other biohazards;
  • unusual contamination;
  • a vehicle larger than the size booked.

If we find something like this, we'll explain before doing any extra work. Any change to the price or time needs your agreement, and you can say no. We won't charge extra without your agreement.

We may decline to work on a vehicle that is unsafe to clean, for example because of biohazards or mould. If we do, you won't pay for work we don't do.

9. Your right to cancel (cancellation period)

You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The cancellation period ends 14 days after the day you made your booking.

To cancel, tell us clearly before the cancellation period ends, by any of these:

You can use the cancellation form below, but you don't have to.

If you cancel, we'll refund everything you've paid within 14 days of you telling us, using the same payment method. You won't be charged any fees for the refund.

Appointments within the 14 days. If your appointment falls inside your cancellation period, we can only go ahead if you ask us to. When you book, you'll be asked to tick this request:

"Please start my service within my 14-day cancellation period. I understand that if I cancel after work has started I'll pay for the work already done, and that once the service is fully completed I'll lose my right to cancel."

If you've made this request, you'll pay for the work already done if you cancel after work has started. The amount is in proportion to the agreed price, up to the point you told us. Once the service is fully completed, you lose your right to cancel. If you'd rather not make the request, choose a date more than 14 days after you book.

10. Cancelling or moving your appointment after the cancellation period

Your right to cancel in section 9 always comes first. Once your cancellation period has ended (for example, you booked more than 14 days ahead), these rules apply:

  • 24 hours or more before your appointment: you can cancel or move it free of charge, with a full refund of any deposit.
  • Less than 24 hours before (mobile): we can move your deposit once, to a new appointment within 30 days. If you don't rebook, we may retain up to £20 of your deposit to reflect the lost appointment slot and related costs, and refund the rest.
  • Missed mobile appointment: this means nobody is there, or we can't get access to the vehicle. We may retain up to £20 of your deposit to reflect the lost appointment slot and related costs, and refund the rest.
  • Drop-off bookings: there's no late-cancellation charge, as no deposit is taken.

We'll always offer to reschedule first. To cancel or move an appointment, contact us as early as possible on 07306 449 691 or by email.

11. Weather, and when we need to reschedule

We work outdoors for mobile appointments. We may need to move your appointment because of:

  • heavy or persistent rain, or strong wind;
  • freezing or near-freezing temperatures;
  • any conditions where we can't work safely or do a good job.

We'll contact you as early as we can, usually the day before or on the morning. You won't be charged: you choose a free new date or a full refund.

If weather stops us part-way, we'll agree with you whether to finish on another day or charge only for the work done.

The same applies if we have to cancel for any other reason, for example illness or a vehicle breakdown.

12. What our services do (and don't)

Clean, Finish, Complete and Maintain are valeting and detailing services. We'll always work with reasonable care and skill, but cleaning can't remove every stain, mark or defect.

  • Scratches, swirls and paint defects need machine polishing (paint correction), which isn't part of these packages.
  • Finish's hydrophobic layer makes water bead and the car easier to keep clean for a period of time. It isn't a coating and doesn't protect against stone chips, scratches or impacts.
  • Surface Cleanse removes bonded contamination (such as tar and iron fallout) to leave the paint smoother before your chosen finish. It isn't paint correction and doesn't remove scratches.

13. Your belongings

Please remove valuables and personal items before the appointment. We'll take care with anything left in the vehicle, but we may need to move items to clean. We're not responsible for the loss of valuables left in the vehicle, except where it's caused by our negligence.

14. Damage and existing defects

Before we start, we'll point out any existing damage we notice, for example chips, scratches, loose trim or failing paint. Cleaning can reveal defects that dirt was hiding; that isn't damage caused by us.

If we damage your vehicle or property through our fault, we'll put it right or compensate you. Please tell us as soon as possible.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

15. Problems and complaints

If you're not happy, please tell us within 7 days if possible, so we can look at it while it's fresh. We'll put things right where we fall short, usually by coming back to redo the affected area. This doesn't reduce your legal rights.

16. Your information

We use your details to arrange and carry out your booking. See our Privacy Notice for how we handle your information.

These terms don't affect your statutory rights. For example, our service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. For advice, contact Citizens Advice.
